A Few SLWG Highlights
1920 - Sam Hellman is the 1st President of St. Louis Writers Guild, he would go on to pen over 40 movies including some Shirley Temple movies.
October 28, 1920 - The 1st SLWG Meeting about 30 people attended.
1935 - Thomas L. Williams (Tennessee Williams) won the Short Story Contest with “Stella for Star.” First prize was $10.
1920s - Temple Bailey is a Charter Member - she was the highest paid female author of her day.
1946 - The 1st St. Louis Writers Guild Writer’s Conference is held at Washington University.
2010 - United States Poet Laureate Ted Kooser presented by St. Louis Writers Guild, St. Louis Poetry Center, and Maryville University
2010 - First Writers in the Park, part of the 90th Anniversary Celebrations
2017 - First Gateway to Publishing Conference & Convention
2020 - A Year of Celebrations!
2021 - Writers on Zoom: A virtual writers conference
